See Everything!!!

Posted by eddie On September - 29 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

when you are walking or sitting in a bar club museum etc , how do you see? Most people have what is called tunnel vision. Meaning they are only able to notice a small of activity that is in their path, blinding them to dangers  and villains flanking them ready to pounce at the right time. The versed ninja has to develop two types of vision.

360 degree vision. When walking make it a habit to look up and around, look at people that are coming in your direction , look at the passenger windows of cars driving in your direction, look at roof tops , and at bushes are they moving?, look and see who is looking at you.  This is a easy and crucial skill to develop, take the time to look all around and you will see ways in and out of every situation,

Picture vision, The second type of vision involves taking is a mental picture at first glance.   Notice and see everything all at once in one glance , then turn away and still visualize the picture that you have taken , was there anything strange or out of place. The advantage of this is that you are still in the moment but are able to look off any attackers making them think that you are unaware. Kinda like a Quarter Back that looks off the DB and then turns back in the direction and throws a touch down. This is a continuation to 360 vision practice seeing everything the first time and then taking a mental picture of what you saw, notice in great detail everything and you will find that this skill will develop into and certain type of esp .

Now im not advocating that a person goes out and starts mean muggin people which can cause an instant problem. What i am saying is make your observing subtle and quick then turn away and memorize what you saw in your first glance , Gentlemen you would be amazed how well this works on the ladies.  Pay attention to detail the first time and then you can walk through the situation with your eyes closed .

Martial Arts is What You Do When You’re Reloading!!!

Posted by eddie On September - 15 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

There is a huge misconception about the martial arts, what they are and what they are used for. Before we start this article in depth i would like for you to take sometime to look at the definition of the word martial arts

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_arts

Right now lets get into it.

There has been a huge shift from the reality of martial arts to what we have today, being that our society has been civilized by some standards the real meaning of the art of war has been forgotten. As the definition points out , the martial arts where methods of combat armed and unarmed to defend ones self from evading forces using any means necesesarry. Fast forward we are quickly returning to that type of warfare society, the economy, rising political tension and civil unrest are proof our our return to warrior times. So to prepare for that change the martial artist and person wanting to survive has to change channels in the brain from sport or dance to real martial arts training. The Latest MMA Champion or BJJ Black beltcan kick ass inside the ring but how dangerous this mindset will turn out to be in time of war. Why one might asks , simply put the navy seal or street thug that carries a 45 on a mission , or on the corner everyday for survival is gonna wipe the floor with Broc Lessner because they are going into battle with the understanding that they must survive and not just win by points. They are not just thinking about wrestling and a take down mount and ground & pound scenario . They are prepared and willing to take away their enemies life with the tools that they have been practicing with . It Blows my mind when i talk to MMA practitioners that don’t have weapons training??? I’m not talking about clearing rooms, or shooting from the hip, the difference between cover and concealment etc, I’m talking about simple knife training how not to get stabbed or slashed in a fatal way. Or how to use a stick for defense and distance against another person wielding a knife. Now some ignorant people will say that’s not martial arts ,no that’s not martial sport. See i practice a front kick to the chest  or palm to the face to get  enough space to pull out my glock and shoot. Or i practice ground work and “Rolling”to be able to defend against the bJJ black belt while I’m pulling out my knife from my boot to stick in his neck! (Ouch where did that come from)

So here is a list of martial Skills that one can practice to better prepare them for real COMBAT

Mental Refinement, Spiritual Refinement, Practical Physical striking, take-downs/throwing , joint dislocations, Weapons training, Stick short and long , aerosol weapons, chains, scarfs , ropes , Knives, shurikens, Fire arms, evasive defensive driving, stealth , disguise , strategy , urban/ wilderness/ survival.

Don’t get caught up in the method of these skill sets, just like hand to hand skr ills there are hundreds of ways to kick and punch depending on styles, the same goes with firearms and stealth training there different ways to do it, the most important thing is to find a good teacher one that wont get you killed.

The Tools of Trade

Posted by eddie On September - 12 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Before one engages in combat it is wise to know as much information about your adversary as possible.  Sun Tzu states that if a warrior knows himself but not his enemy the warrior is gonna win 50% of the time. If the warrior knows the enemy and not himself than he will also win 50% of the time . If the same warrior doesn’t know himself or the enemy well the outcome is obvious, So we are gonna look at knowing ones self in this article.

Most Human beings have natural weapons provided by god for us in case of combat, of course as i always state our best weapon and the one that should be used first is the mind. Only after the mind was used to access the situation should the ninja go into physical combat. So here is a list of the tools that we have naturally as warriors .

Hands: They can be used for poking, scraping, striking punching and of course grabbing

Elbows: Very good for self defense , hard edges that can deliver  a fairly good amount of damage in the right area i.e the cheek, eyebrow which produces a good amount of blood to blind your enemy , collar bone and sternum , sensitive areas of the skeletal structure that can be broken or fractured . And areas like the thigh and the shoulder blades which are neglected in most combat . Defense , elbows are also a greet means of defense when used at the right time. If an attacker throws a hard punch in the direction of the face your elbow can swiftly rise and block the fist damaging the knuckles of your adversary making them not able to punch again in that way.

Shoulder : ??? yep believe it or not the shoulder can be used to off balance your  unaware adversary being that if they come at you and are met with the shoulder backed up by the weight of your body they can be sent flying. On of the great swords men of history Musashi spoke about knocking his opponent off balance with his shoulder and then cutting through them before they were able to get their balance.

Knees : Like the elbow another hard surface to hit with that can generate a decent amount of power , also very hard to see when up close and surprising when used with a leaping or jumping motion. Note its not always the best idea to bring the knee to the face so one might try bring the enemies face down to the knee “Just ” a though.

Shins: when striking the outside/inside of thigh can be debilitating instantly especially with soccer shin guards to help with the penetration. Shhhh that’s our secret(:

Foot: Used for kicking skills in different methods , the foot to the groin , solar plexus and head is lights out meatball” also shielded with hard shoes I.E dress shoes can be a nightmare in the possession of a skilled kicker

Head: not just used for thinking but also in some cases , delivering a surprising blow to the nose of the adversary in your face asking you if you want to dance. I find that the head butt which should be used with the crown of the head is best served in the middle of thier interview “what you got a prob-BAM ” head butt and they are seeing stars

Later we will discuss some great ways to deploy these tools but that’s for another day.

Sit-ups, Push-Ups, Dips and Running

Posted by eddie On September - 9 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

As a ninja you have to have a strong and flexible body , depending on what your mission is wether storming the castle and escaping to having to wrestle the guy who is pissed at you for bumping into his car, you have to have a body that you can depend on.  Contrary to what most people think wieght lifting will give you the “blowfish” effect maybe keeping the average adversary from attacking you from (Maybe) but if not even the biggest body builder will be strong in every way , Think about it Arm curls , bench pressing squats etc will only make a person strong in those ranges of motion, So unless you get attacked by a dumbbell literally weight lifting is not gonna help much once again appearance more than function. Push ups sit ups dips running and stretching will do more for you body and your ninja needs than most non martial arts exercises.

The Following regimen will help with toning and preparing your body

300: hundred push ups a day : this can and should be broken up into pieces try doing 100 in the morning 100 in afternoon and 100 in the evening, if you can do three hundred straight you don’t need this website .

300:hundred sit ups a day , the same applies with push ups break them down , if you have a strong core then a lot of you movements will be stronger

100:pull ups try to do 10 tens , pull ups help your back and also help you with climbing activities it might take some time to get to 100 don’t rush it and injure yourself.

Running : good cardiovascular conditioning priceless , jogging for endurance and sprinting for escape run more than anything and make sure you stretch before you go to prevent injuries.

Stretching: Its important to have a flexible body, you can escape hold , slip through smaller spaces avoid injury etc with good slow stretching daily, when you wake up and right before you go to bed . wrist , elbow, legs neck etc

go really slow with your conditioning it better to make this a part of your life instead of trying to do it in a week

The Ninja Mind

Posted by eddie On September - 9 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

a ninjas most valuable weapon is not his sword or gun or fighting ability , a ninjas most valuable weapon is ….his mind. As i stated before when i use the term ninja i am referring the the everyday warrior confronted with opposition and danger around the corner of everyday life. What do you spend most of you time thinking about ? The Key to the ninja mind is to have a sense of vigilance, when you walk into a room look up and then to the left. Pay attention to the details that are in the room. Are things out of place ? Is the room quieter than normal, different temperatures meaning there could be a window or door ajar. Make a habit of counting the exits of any venue that you might frequent , how easy is it for you to get to those exits if need be? What i am getting at is being aware of your surroundings and developing a skill set of observation that will give you the edge on your adversaries. When walking down the street think about what you are doing, put your phone down , turn off your ipod and keep your eyes open. Think as if someone is after you, not living in fear off course  but live with a sense of urgency! Think what if something broke out in the stadium , nightclub convenient store etc the ninja mind is sharper than his sword more swift than any shuriken and more deadly than any martial moves .
